Drove to Falmouth harbor at 3:00 am from home in New Hampshire. Working with a good friend of mine from 6:00 am to 9:00 upside down in the bilge and finally the electonic problem was solved on the Handshake. Josh Lincoln joined us and we set sail for the Cape Cod canal. What a beautiful ride up the Stellwagen bank with a tall wind pushing along nicely.  We stopped at three spots with great success and caught a lot of cod. The day was long for all with arival back home at 11:00 pm another 20 hr day. Fishing charters look good in the next two weeks out of Gloucester. Then back to Falmouth were I am anticipating a great striped bass season starting early next month. Word on the street is that the squid are already in on the south side of Cape Cod.

Offshore fall cod and pollock fishing is AWESOME!

A gorgeous cod caught offshore Cape cod on Hairball Charters

The striped bass have mostly moved on for the season, but the cod and pollock fishing just offshore could not be better. I’ve found a great spot on an old wreck (sorry, it’s a secret) where the cod and pollock are on before our jigs hit the bottom. We’re reaching our limits on 5 to 15 pound cod (10 per anglers) and catching plenty of pollock besides. The fall weather is crisp and gorgeous out there. We leave at 4:30 a.m. from Cape Cod’s Falmouth Harbor for a three-hour trip that takes us about 64 miles offshore, and all in it’s a 12-hour day. You’ll be comfortable and dry in my newly refurbished 37-foot lobster-boat, which cruises and fishes like a dream. So give me a call and let’s get out on the water to catch the fish that made cape Cod famous.
