The action has been fantastic with striped bass all over the south side of cape cod. I have been primarily jigging wire with stripers in the mid thirty inch range have a double tomorrow, With light winds and cloudy conditions. going to try to the east of Falmouth harbor tomorrow. Im sure the forty inch fish are around just have to find them. Four calls today filling up the last days of may have half day open memorial day.

The 2012 Cape Cod Striped Bass fishing is turning out to be the best in years. Today we caught over 20 Keepers with two triple hook ups and four doubles. This crew traveled down from the lakes region in New Hampshire. All six people brought home a fish in the mid thirty inch ranch. The Stripers are located just minutes from the dock. Hairball charters has a slip in Falmouth inner Harbor with plenty of free parking. We guarantee that all Charter fisherman will catch a striped bass that is over 28″ or they will not pay. The fish are healthy gorging on baby scup and squid. The fillets are fantastic with the water temp hovering are 55 degrees. Going out on another deep sea adventure tomorrow so stay tuned.

Anthony And friends enjoyed a great day yesterday with Quality striped bass on the line within a minute of lines in, and a beauty on the last pass of the day. In Falmouth the rain finally let up by 9 am so we delayed till then, good call on our part by 10 am the sun was trying to peak out with just a light breeze. After the tide went slack and the fishing tapered off. I hid the boat in a quiet cove and the charter enjoyed some sandwiches. Before heading back to Falmouth Harbor we snuck into the vineyard for a leg stretch and a great ice cream cone. At the dock I fillet the stripers and packed them in ice.

Drove to Falmouth harbor at 3:00 am from home in New Hampshire. Working with a good friend of mine from 6:00 am to 9:00 upside down in the bilge and finally the electonic problem was solved on the Handshake. Josh Lincoln joined us and we set sail for the Cape Cod canal. What a beautiful ride up the Stellwagen bank with a tall wind pushing along nicely. We stopped at three spots with great success and caught a lot of cod. The day was long for all with arival back home at 11:00 pm another 20 hr day. Fishing charters look good in the next two weeks out of Gloucester. Then back to Falmouth were I am anticipating a great striped bass season starting early next month. Word on the street is that the squid are already in on the south side of Cape Cod.

The Charter fishing this year is going to be early. I am preparing by booking fishing trips the first week of may for striped bass. This is turning out great opening more dates for the people that have not had a chance to book, opening a few more weekends and two weeks of prime fishing. The beginning of the striper season I really enjoy with short runs to active feeding fish migrating north. The last really warm winters were in the late 90′s and early 2000′s. when checking my logs there was great early fishing then. I am very excited and think we will have a banner year.

Bringing clients this Spring bottom Fishing for Cod, Haddock, and Pollock. I cant wait, ready to bring the 37′ Handshake from Falmouth Harbor in early April steaming up to Gloucester Harbor making the run much shorter to prime fishing grounds. Last years fishing charters went well with happy customs catching loads of big cod fish and plenty of Haddock. Traveling down to Falmouth to put a fresh coat of bottom paint and zincs on the big boat.
